Year of the Red Fire Rooster

Tonight we usher in the Chinese New Year and this year its the 紅 火 鸡
anybody missing the association to bloody turkey...

My recommended dish is 紅糟鸡, usually eaten as mee sua, it's served in my home as a dinner dish to be eaten with rice. Good Luck getting hong zhao as its not sold in stores.

My mom made her pineapple tarts as usual. Couple of extra ones made from blueberry jam we had in the fridge.

Pantone colour of the year is Greenery. Red and Green reminds me of Christmas. 

During Chinese New Year we usually exchange food gifts with family and neighbors, like my mom's pineapple tarts.

Lately, the trend has been luxury gifts and I think it's because of Valentine's Day coinciding with CNY. So I switched to gifts as well. 新年快乐!
