Under $15 Meals

Its this new Thai style meepok at ThaiThai Kitchen that has everyone QQ. The opening special price is just $5.90 for a bowl and a total meal with sides, dessert and drink will cost you under $15.

My fave dish here is actually Thai Green Curry kway teow coz I love green curry and they make it here with the most lemak coconut milk. There is one dry noodle dish - grilled chicken with green jade noodles.

A new obsession is tempura udon. Its the fluffy & crispy flour with dipping sauce that I cannot get from the supermarket to make at home. There are other Ichiban Boshi bowls under $15 (or $12.80 if you include service charge and gst).

XO Fish Slice bee hoon $8.90 from the coffeeshop and it's the real deal. The soup is packed with flavour even though it looks white and clear. Usually you have to order a family sized portion but here its available in individual portions.

Pepper Lunch has hot sizzling plates and my fave is hamburg steak & steak bites with veges at just $9.50. I think they put hamburger helper in the hamburg steak, its soo yummy and soft. Drizzle some sauce on the veges, it helps to cook the bean sprouts.

Mukbang @ Jollibee for $15, you can get a lot of food and its all good stuff. The burger patties are a little smallish, the mashed potatoes are over buttered but the fried chicken is good with mini cups of gravy you can drink down.

Imperial Herbal Restaurant

We came back to the same Chinese Herbal Restaurant for Sunday dinner with Uncle Andy & his family, ABCs for company tonight.

This was in the restaurant display case, croc I should think but a mini one.

Today's specials, Buddha Jumps over the Wall and Stewed Tortoise. That we didn't have any of coz we ordered the set meal.

Egg white Fu Rong. Where did they put the yolk?

Melon soup with little balls of vegetables inside, or bubble tea soup as someone said.

Steamed soon hock, really good. I was thinking if I should have seconds and thirds of this.

Stewed house-made beancurd that is really soft and smooth.

Selfies taken during dinner.

Post National Day Update

More Japanese food again, special occasions and Jap food go hand-in-hand. This time I had teapot soup instead of hotpot soup, its really intense flavor.

Salty fish eggs ice-cream that is ok I guess, these new age ice creams are very different.

Spent the weekend trying to figure out the Samsung Gear 360 camera that I won from EverReady Batteries. This 2.0 version of the original 360 camera looks cuter with a completely round head that resembles a real eye. Retail price $348 that is around what a regular digital camera costs.

Meant to be compatible with VR tech, it also allows for panoramic shots and wide angle views. This is the camera used by real estate agents in listings. There is a matching tripod kit for around $150 and expandable memory card slot. However, I cannot get this started until I have the right cable to charge/download and this specific cable is only available when you purchase the Samsung Notebook.

I also got started on a new cross-stitch, the kit is from China but with an American Country design. I think there is a perfect photo frame for this from Ikea, if it's still in stock. This cross-stitch is pretty big with 4 separate charts and almost every square has to be cross-stitched. To make it more manageable I am planning on skipping the white background parts coz you really cannot see it anyway, white thread on white cloth.

Spent my GST credits instantly upon receiving it.

Made in Malaysia facial wash & scrub. I  like to get these indie brands when I am over there, so surprised to find it here on the shelves. Something different.

Japanese version of Pantene is also available alongside regular Pantene. It's double the price in a smaller bottle, not sure what the premium is for, guess I'll find out soon.

WMF promotion again, the last time everything was fully redeemed and I could not get the stuff I wanted. This time around, I took the effort to collect printed reward points from my family to make the redemptions immediately. Good thing I did, coz that's the last set of pressure cooker in the store.

Wrapping with Paper Fasteners

I have recently started wrapping presents with paper fasteners instead of tape and have found it to be easier to do so. I started with novelty paper fasteners bought from Prints/Kikki K, and have since moved onto plain regular ones from the neighborhood stationery shop.

It looks like neat little rows of buttons. Instead of wrapping paper, I am using scrap-booking paper.

You can fold a box base securing it down with paper fasteners, put the gift in, then pinch the top and secure it with paper fasteners.

You can also join 2 pieces of craft paper together with paper fasteners, put the gift in, pinch the 2 sides down with paper fasteners.

Japanese food for lunch, small bowls of different types of rice - salmon sashimi & unagi tamago. I also love ordering the different types of tofu, it sounds healthy but it tastes really nice & mild.

Singapore Garden Festival

Visited the Flower Dome at Gardens by the Bay, soo crowded! It's $12 per Singaporean adult on a weekday.

Right at the entrance are these shophouses filled with orchids like the real houses of old. OK, so its usually like 1 pot of orchids but this looks soo much better.

The walking paths are filled with these powder puffs of orchids, soo cute!

This new breed of orchids really caught my attention, its like Tron with petals that resemble computer chips.

Newer versions of prize winning orchids resembling garlands, so you don't have to bunch blooms to make a wreath, you can just use 1 branch by 1 branch.

These lantern flowers are too gorgeous, this time I took pics of the ombre purple/hot pink ones.

Pointy star vine leaves, amazing find if you see this in the wilderness. Leaves with unusual shapes are really ornamental, these look like shurikens.

Completely black pansies, I wonder why we don't see more pure black flowers around.

Giant flowering plants. This entire section has grass level flowering plants.

Mega Dahlia, think this is the biggest I've seen so far.

Full Zinnias, looks like this is going to be my new screensaver.

Just as we stepped out of the Flower Dome, we saw the walkway covered in bright orange blooms, don't know what its called.

That's an actual human size comparison, so you know how big these are.

Stopped for a souvenir but got a white rose milk ice cream instead. Other ice cream flavors include fruit, milo, chocolate, orchid vanilla etc.
