Silver Kokeshi Doll

I seem to buy a kokeshi doll every year. Retailers know the allure of these adorable Japanese dolls and offer new versions every year, each more desirable than the last. Agatha's Spring/Summer 2010 collection features pure silver dolls coated in colourful enamel in the form of earrings, necklaces, bracelets and keychains. I got the last purple doll keychain. Yes, I had to get it or there won't be anymore left...ever again.

The Society Bistro

Dinner at Mandarin Gallery's The Society Bistro. It was the crepes that made me wanna try the food. The first time I ate at Society Bistro One Fullerton, everything on the menu was deep fried. What a change since then. The chicken emmenthal crepes had asparagus in a cream sauce almost similar to hollandaise and wrapped in soft fluffy crepes, it was heartwarmingly familiar in a good way.

Lemon Tart for dessert that contained lemon curd and lemon gelee, it was sweet and tart at the same time. It was a nice surprise for me as I was expecting sharper lemony sourness.

I was planning on having just 1 lavender macaroon. But, the waitress brought 2! 1 on the house...yay!

Kway Chap

My favourite brunch dish is Kway Chap. It is a bowl of broad, flat rice noodles in a dark soya sauce gravy soup and served with sliced duck, fatty pork, pig offal, beancurd, hard-boiled egg and preserved vegetables. Done properly, it is delicious and one of those dishes you just can't get enough of.

Glamoxy Snake Serum

I love the cult skincare brands that SSCUBE the Apothecary carries from Dr Brandt to Zeno zit zappers. So when they called with free samples for me to try out I couldn't resist. Glamoxy Snake Serum has active peptides to freeze face muscles and reduce the appearance of wrinkles, much like a snake's venom would plump out and render it's enemies immobile. I don't have wrinkles yet, so maybe I should pass it on to my mom.

Growing 3 Sisters

Since I have successfully managed to grow sword beans, which is not difficult by the way. I have decided to take my gardening 1 step further and plant pumpkins and squash next as these have been known to take easily to the high temperatures of tropical Singapore. I bought a pack each of all the exotic breeds I could find: turk's turban, butternut, patty pan, jack o lantern. And 1 pack of black corn. As informed by online forums, these sprouted in a week! I had to quickly transplant the seedlings into bigger pots as their roots started to intertwine. And 1 rotten onion below that also sprouted!

Caramel Cafe

In that small space between UOB centre and the MRT staircase, they have managed to construct a little cafe, literally hole-in-the-wall. This french inspired place serves delicious desserts with a twist and the best macaroons as voted by IS readers. Stocking my favourite beverage: Found's carbon-free, eco-friendly fruit drinks - sour cherry here. Perfect place to take a mid-day break.

Berg's Burgers

A burger place at China Square. The "small" burgers are really regular sized and the "berg size" are gigantic patties you need two hands to hold. You will be hard pressed to find a place during lunch time.

The fries are chunky thick cut and everything is served in takeaway bags. Convenient I suppose if you have a last minute meeting to run away to.

What's interesting are the spiced patties that are freshly grilled upon ordering.

Burgers cost around $10 to $18. Sides are separate and range from $3.50 to $7.
