Hua Zai Frog Porridge



No choice but to apply for my new Mastercard, with all the shops closed the only way to buy my stuff is online and for that I need a debit/credit card. Passion Platinum promises no fees ever and 4% cash rebates on my purchases at Giant/Cold Storage/Guardian. 


My favorite meal for late night suppers is claypot frog porridge. Frog is a white meat quite similar to chicken. Trying out a new place from Toa Payoh Industrial Park, usually I go to the famous stall in Chinatown.


I ordered a set meal for 2 to 3 people, its gong bao frog with 3 whole frogs in it, porridge, 2 sides of clams, $40.


This place also sells chicken claypot if you are not into frog, but I think for this style of porridge, frog is good.

3 Day Deep Fried Pork with Rice



This dish is a cross between Khao Pad and Nam Khao. I tried to make it in its entirety for lunch and realized that its actually meant to be cooked and eaten over 3 days.


First Day : boil the pork in water with tomyum herbs, then use the same water to cook the rice. Serve separately the fresh salad, boiled pork and rice.


Second Day : deep-fry the leftover salad, pork and rice then mix it all together before serving.


Third Day : stir-fry leftover mixture with additional condiments. I have thai fish sauce, tamarind juice, flavored salt (preserved shrimp paste mixed with salt).

Crystal Jade Golden Palace @ Paragon



Last meal outside @ Crystal Jade Golden Palace before everything closes for the Covid-19 home quarantines. This is the Crystal Jade branch that serves new age Chinese food, the last time I was here I had the ginseng cocktail shooters and cold crab. 


They ordered the cold crab this time around too! The egg roe has a really intense flavor almost like preserved duck eggs.


Starters of preserved veges taste like the ones in the supermarket, I can eat the whole packet as a snack.


Really nice roast meats and fried rice to start our meal off. 


Shark collagen soup and vermicelli clams.


Beijing Roast Duck with freshly made pancakes and the remaining duck meat gets diced into tiny cubes for easy eating. 


Some pricey items of lobster mee, wagyu beef and red wine. I would come back again just for these items.


There was 2 orders of carrot cake for the kids that I had some of, its pretty good.

South American Things



Shadow box kit from China, you have to make this scenery inside a tin box the size of an iPhone. There is even a battery operated light (Christmas lights) you have to install inside. Will get to it in time.


Royce chocolates are one of my favorite food gifts. This one is Mojito white choc that is actually quite bitter but the choc is still good. Alcohol is not bitter and it has to be added in, not sure why the F&B industry keeps this tradition alive.


Craftholic handphone stand that is super soft, its like a baby's rattle coz you can grip the teddy bear and there are beans inside the bag.


Silicone ultrasonic face cleanser that is supposed to be like the Clarisonic ones. Its quite fun to use coz the base lights up and its waterproof.


Chateraise ice-cream pack of their most popular flavors, mostly vanilla/chocolate/matcha. The almond jelly with nata de coco is pretty good.


 Chicken chop that is surprisingly good, I thought the colour was a little pale. Also had more of those creamy mussels.


Homemade Beer Cheese Soup, the cheese burns easily and needs to stirred constantly. Other than that, everyone loves this dish coz it tastes of beer and cheese.
