Currently Reading: The Mediator books 1 & 2

Someone gave me Meg Cabot's The Mediator books 1 & 2 (Love You To Death & High Stakes) this past Christmas.

The story centers around a young girl who communicates with ghosts, much like M Night Shyamalan's movie The Sixth Sense. Only this time, it's written with humour, a ghostly love interest and a very brave yet brash heroine. Can't wait to get my hands on books 3 to 6 as books 1 & 2 were delightful to read with it's vivid imagery, I can easily imagine this as a popular TV series or even movie. It's written for teens to young adults and just the sort of paperback adults pick up at the airport.

Guerlain Blanc de Pearl UV Base

An opalescent white base to provide a veil of light to your complexion. It is a color correcting foundation that is creamy white like moisturizer, once applied it turns translucent. Dust on some makeup and you get that glowy-dewy look we all love soo much. I have to say it's hard to achieve this effect and while there are lots of products on the market that cater for this, Guerlain's Blanc de Pearl does it effortlessly to great effect. The downside is that this look can quickly turn shiny and make your face look oily, so keep a compact on hand for touch-ups or just use more makeup powder on your face during the initial application.

Blanc de Pearl UV base also provides sunscreen coverage in a wonderful scent of fresh lilies, one of our favorite flowers. It is available in either lightening, correcting or smoothing versions and comes with a complete range of supporting products. S$86 for 30ml retail size bottle.

QQrice

This Taiwanese chain QQrice packages rice in different ways for a healthy yet tasty meal. It sells purple rice, brown rice, multi-grain, wheatgerm brown and a combination of all, in bowls (if you are dining in) or rice balls (for takeaway). There is even purple rice juice, pudding etc. I tried the takeaway rice balls and it is superbly yummy, $2 for small and $2.60 for large.

Extended Lunch Hour - Tangs

Taking advantage of the nearby MRT for a leisurely lunch break.

Had lunch at Island Cafe, although Tangs Market is now open! Roast Pig portion for 1 @ $20, Peranakan Bakery with all your faves like buah keluak in a bun @ $2.20, the list goes on. Gourmet hotdogs from $9, award-winning croissants and coffee to Krispy Kreme, I can finish a whole dozen by myself for dinner.

Got back in office just before 2pm, in time for a quick touch-up and hot drink to settle in for the afternoon.

Carolina Herrera F/W 2013/2014

Carolina Herrera did a pre-Fall showing filled with these gorgeous dresses made from bright everyday prints. So sweet, lady-like and ready for any girl that still believes in fairytales in the city. This gorgeous photo shoot by Patrick Demarchelier tells the story wonderfully. So the wedding dressmaker wants us to wear "wedding dresses" everyday, it's a really romantic notion.

The actual fall/winter showing continues on that theme, with lots of fur trims (coz it's cold) and princess sleeves. my personal favorite is that white dress below...totally my style.

Gilt.com

Gilt is a popular USA time-based sale shopping site that once again offers shipping to Singapore. These sample sale sites stopped shipping overseas for the last couple of years and started segregating international customers (I recommended a whole list on my blog somemore), as have several  popular e-commerce sites. Such a pain, everything's back to the way it was at the beginning of the internet.

The Body Shop - Honey Bronze

The Body Shop launched it's Honey range of products and bronzers last Fall to much hoopla and I did manage to get in on some of the products. The scent is not direct but rather thick syrupy florals, so I think all girls will like it. Along with the usual body scrubs, body butters, shower gels, there is a bronzing range of products - loose powders, compacts, foundations and my absolute fave a shimmering dry oil.

Remember those tanning oils sun-seekers slather on themselves to glisten in the sun. This is a much milder version of that. It provides a little glitter, a little moisture, a little colour, a little shine and a little perfume. Just the way I like it. I really can't afford to look more tanned (fairer girls might find the colour change more obvious) so this mild and mild + body perfume is just right. Texture is totally liquid and gets absorbed by the skin quickly. The bottle itself looks like a glitter water globe, S$36.90.
