Wedding Sauce Dishes

Cute yet useful wedding favors. I don't think I have received the same wedding favor twice before, each wedding couple always finds something new.

Garrett Popcorn

Another one of Oprah's favourite things.

Gourmet popcorn that comes in 3 flavours - cheese, caramel or butter. Sold in paper bags or if you prefer in fancy gallon tin cans that are really cute. I want to get that 6.5 gallon one as a dustbin or tool holder.

So how does it stack up against other popcorn brands? It's definitely better than cinema popcorn. But, Poppycock the grocery store brand has a better sweet popcorn and Cornery has more variety. They should start serving this at the cinemas instead.

Lawry's Dinner

Had my birthday dinner with Sylvia today at Lawry's, that high-class theme restaurant. It's supposed to be early American steakhouse where nothing has changed since 1938. But, everything is soo British! They even serve yorkshire pudding.

The costumed staff do a little performance when presenting the spinning bowl salad and they even sang a birthday song for me at the end of the meal. Try finding another high-end steakhouse that does that.

We proceeded to the newly opened Marie Antoinette Cafe for tea.

A quaint Parisian cafe with some pretty amazing macaroons and plenty of pre-packaged pastries for you to bring home.

Another lovely place for the ladies. Comfy chairs and monogrammed crockery. The teas smell and taste as described and main course portions are generous.

American Chinese Home?

A picture that came with one of my cross-stitch kits. Is it an American style home in China or a Chinese home in America? hmmm...economically, I would say land in China is cheaper but the window mouldings and built in bookshelves say American contractors. What do you think?

Ran Out of Thread

This Mandarin Ducks cross stitch measures 62.18cm by 55.68cm utilizing a total of 50 colours.

I have been working on this cross stitch to-date but, had to stop as I ran out of DMC 3347 or green colour thread. I wrote in to the kit seller TangTang who was nice enough to send me 1 spool and promised the rest later when stock arrives at end November. Running out of thread in a kit is a common occurance, you will always end up with plenty of some colours and less of others.

I couldn't wait and went ahead to order some extra threads from www.stirringhearts.com.sg that stocks the entire DMC thread series for $0.80 a piece. There is a slight difference in colour between DMC threads sold in EU, outside EU and PRC only. So always just order from the same source again.

* Do not order the cross stitch kits from Gmarket. I purchased kits from other sellers that have no problems and all materials required. All the kits from the Gmarket seller do not have enough thread to complete.
