Polling Day

My first time voting in the elections. It comes once every 4 years and the right of every Singaporean over the age of 21. My area is usually uncontested, except for this year.

Morinaga's Caramels

Morinaga makes the best caramels and all packed in vintage Japanese boxes. My favourites are salted caramel (quite hard to find) and red bean (azuki). The wholesome homemade flavour just jumps out at you. It's sold in regular size or large size with a bigger box and bigger caramel pieces, just my kind of dessert.

PS Cafe - Ann Siang Hill

Tucked away in a corner of Ann Siang Hill is PS Cafe, that chain restaurant with real food that is delicious!

Company lunch Take 2:

From their grill, is a generous portion of truffle fries and prime steaks.

I had a cold seafood sandwich and tomato soup. In this tropical weather, it was my perfect mid-week lunch.

I ordered the apple crumble gelato that was unusually yummy, spiced with something other than cinnamon, with a churros base.

I love these out of the way places :)

Floral & Flowering Tea

I am making my mom a gift for Mother's Day. My mix of floral tea and flowering tea balls. First things first, a quality check of the individual tea leaves - Roses, Lavendar, Osmanthus, Dandelion, Lichee blossom and Hawthorn fruit.

For a stronger brew, I made a second mix by adding in black tea leaves and more dried fruits.

A mix of flowering tea balls...

I figure she can soak in the first batch and drink the second. A handmade under $50 gift you can make too!

Marina Bay Sands

I am embarrassed to admit it, I took a while to make my way here as I thought there was a $100 entry fee. Well, I did manage to avoid the opening day crowds.

Now for the whirlwind tour. There is the casino, Singaporeans have to pay $100 tax to enter it. It's free for foreigners. If you don't gamble there are clubs, theatre, skating rink and a museum.

For me, the huge shopping mall really takes attention away from the casino. Major labels and celebrity chef restaurants are the highlight of this place. To really soak in the atmosphere, book a MBS hotel room from $188/night and enjoy access to the sky park for panoramic views of the business district nightlights.

Labour Day

Happy Labour Day to all the hardworking people in Singapore. Today we rest and tomorrow we party or is it the other way around? I love these long weekends.
