Treats for me

Received some wellness treats for myself, dunno when my health problems will end. At least these items can keep for a while and do not require immediate attention.

I actually like these wife cakes, its in between melon buns and tau sar piah, expiry in 3 years.

Did some online sale shopping at OG, genuine crocodile skin bags! Where else can you buy non-branded genuine croc skin bags?

Even came with free gifts.

Only ordered these 2 Christmas items for myself this year. A dozen milk chocolate cookies and steamable individual serving size pudding.

Bedok Road Char Kway Teow

Ordering home delivery from Bedok Road coffeeshop, black & white carrot cake as well as char kway teow. Good reviews on this place, am expecting good food. S$35 for this order including delivery and portions are huge, can feed family of 5 or 6 people.

The carrot cake is very soft and almost melts in the mouth when eaten hot from the wok. I like the white version coz its just right, but some people prefer the sweeter black version.

I requested for the lard bits and fresh cockles to be put on the side, its not breakfast kway teow and enough to satisfy cravings for this dish. No drinks from this stall though, I have my own homemade hot honey lemon ginger to drink everyday.

Ciao Bella Italian Restaurant Bar

It's like the famous Italian song, I am expecting good & authentic Italian food from this restaurant bar located outside Sultan Mosque. I ordered some Singaporean favorites like caesar salad, pesto pasta, seafood al cartoccio (wrapped in paper) and garlic bread with trio of dips. No drinks, with delivery costs S$65 for one person.

Portions are generous, the sourdough garlic bread is plentiful almost a meal in itself, no trio of dips only marinara sauce. The pesto pasta came without pesto just light cream and a sprinkling of cheese and coriander.

Caesar Salad has no croutons or cheese, jiak lat it's just regular garden salad. Thank god the smoked salmon managed to save this salad. Seafood is also just mussels wrapped in paper, but this gets a solid good from me.

Now that Krispy Kreme does home delivery, I can get it's Christmas doughnuts for breakfast (S$3.90 each). I think the special occasion doughnuts are good value for money coz its soo nicely decorated for almost the same price as its regular doughnuts.

Torokeru Hamburg Fukuyoshi

For home delivery it is called < Torokeru Hamburg Fukuyoshi > award winning brand from Kanagawa Japan that serves grilled stewed hamburgers. The shop is actually located @ Deli's Kitchen along Bencoolen Street. I ordered home delivery am expecting a very basic version of bento box hamburg steak & roast beef.

The hamburg steak is really soft and tasty, the roast beef tastes more like cured meat and a little goes a long way with thin slices covering a bed of rice. Salad came with toasted sesame cream dressing that's really good. Fried camembert cheese that has a very mild flavor but still soft and creamy always.

Pizza Maru / Rochor Beancurd

Korean western food from Pizza Maru located at Bugis + shopping center. I've been meaning to try the rose shrimp pasta that I see on TV all the time, it's pretty expensive coz its priced the same as a pasta dish from a good Italian restaurant.

And then there's the obviously different K-pizzas to choose from, < cheesy maru oppa > is popular but I went with < gangnam cowboy > that has bulgabi steak sauce in it. I like the non-conventional pizza bases, this one is closer to brown bread.

Super hot chicken wings from Korea are all the rage, how can I leave it out of this order, most of the wings sauces here have gangjeong sauce in it, so I chose spicy over the others like garlic, onion, honey. Order came with pickles and more gangjeong sauce.

Bulk order from Rochor beancurd, I like that each bowl is individually packed and I can keep it in my fridge for up to a week. In reality, it only lasts a few days even though I limit myself to just one bowl a day. 

Butter Studio / Sinpopo Cakes

 

Delivery was delayed by 2 hours but when the pastries and cakes arrived, the smells of freshly baked was all worth it. Lemon pound cake and lemon tart are not sour at all and full of that lemon-y flavor.

I ordered the bakers box of 6 assorted pastries and 2 tarts with freshly whipped cream meringue. There's burnt cheesecake, kouign amann (solidly soaked in sugar syrup), brownie, choco tart, 2 slices of lemon drizzle cake. Speculoos tart and Lemon tart.

Sis sent me some Chateraise cakelets. The pink peach tart taste like Han's peach tart but instead of solid peach its actually soft cream. Marshmellow choco cake, TDF! and a persimmon sponge cake for mom.

Bro sent me a whole Sinpopo gula melaka sponge cake. It's a bit like the famous Lana choco cakes in the jelly custard fillings, cool and refreshing in our hot weather. The familiar deep rich taste of coconut sugar is simple yet delicious.

Pepperoni Pizza

This is the only pizza delivery place that sells XXL oversized pizzas. It comes in classic combinations like salami above or in more Italian-style combinations. Total came up to S$120 and can feed a party of 16 people. 

One pasta we tried is the pure basil pesto fusilli with chicken and mushrooms, really fresh and light can be eaten hot or cold.

Calamari that came with 2 dipping sauces and a lemon wedge, I like that its hard and crisp batter, not much on the cilantro taste tho' made it up with the dipping sauces.

Fried chicken wings that are similar to frozen CP Chicken, fat and juicy inside with lots of seasonings.

Pepperoni pizza is a little sour, all salami I bought from Europe tastes like that. It's also not very spicy, needs the chili and cheese sprinkles. Pizza edges are really good tho', like the dough.

Heavenly Wang

This local breakfast coffeeshop franchise serves mainly kaya toast and coffee or tea. I am trying out the new menu items chili crab explosion, mentaiko blast and salted egg lava. 

Variations on the classic kaya toast are hazelnut smores kaya toast and yuzu cream cheese kaya toast.

Laksa and mee rebus are available for home delivery, in-store there is mee siam and chicken curry mee.

Hot and cold coffeeshop drinks. Actually everything came at the same temperature, no ice and also no hot vapor.
