American burgers from Seoul, it's pretty intriguing so I had to try it. Freshly made buns, prime beef patties and greasy fries straight from the deep fryer. However, the sauces are a little different from ordinary mayo and bbq.

Shatter Nails
Did my nails in black shatter today. Been meaning to try it for some time and it looks great with shorter nails. Very punkish.

Grasshopper
More insects running out onto the pavement once the weather gets rainy. I spotted this yellow striped grasshopper with a greenish neck on my way back from my sister's home. It's so colourful, you know it's a tropical insect.

Fish & Co
Fish & Co for fried, grilled or baked seafood. It's like a restaurant version of Long John Silver with a dozen different kinds of fish and chips to choose from.
Their signature drink Jungle Monkey Freeze, a giant soda for 2 was popular while my mom and I were there. It's massive, that's no trick photography! I ordered Kola Tonic instead, another signature drink.
Cute fish pot holders to hold the sizzling pans of food.
Seafood meals are never complete without chowder. Something strangely comforting in the creamy wholesomeness of cream soup thickened with potatoes and leeks.
And their famous seafood platters. You can smell the seafood on the grill. Then you dig into the buttered rice underneath *ohh whee* kinda like seafood paella on BBQ.

Lemongrass Tea
Today's tea is lemongrass that I got from Bangkok. Surprisingly hot like ginger. Lots of flavour, can use in place of lemongrass in cooking.

Tofu packets with stuffings of meat and vegetables.
Cod fish and asparagus.

JDMIS Silver Making Class
I started on the JDMIS silver making class today. You get to work with pure silver art clay, something relatively new in the industry.
The end result is fired over a stove and catches fire (see top left).
The final product is polished and washed before appearing like the above. A silver patterned pendant. I am probably going to use as a tag.
Different types of silver art clay you can buy home to practice.

Sichuan Chilled Pork
I have recently taken a liking to this Sichuan dish of chilled pork belly rolls stuffed with cucumber and sometimes carrots, topped in hot garlic spring onion sauce. It's cold and spicy all at once.

Goreng Pisang
My favourite local snack/dessert is Goreng Pisang or fried bananas. Especially so when the local pisang raja is used. Once you get through the crisp outer layer, an intense sweetness bursts forth like honeyed syrup. It gets dressed up when prepared at home or in restaurants, with cinnamon dusting and coconut ice-cream.

Mixed Grill
My dinner last night, chinese style steak. There is alot more gravy than conventional steakhouses and the meat is cooked til tender so it's easier to chew. It's been a long time since I had this, really missed it.

Chilli Crab
This singaporean favourite comes with a starchy chili gravy and lots of eggs that you are supposed to dip mantou (fried or steamed) in or pour onto your rice. So you get to munch on the crab meat and enjoy the savoury gravy at the same time. My favourites are the fried mantou that are good enough to eat on its own.

Tung Lok Seafood
This famous Chinese food chain has a seafood restaurant at East Coast. Whilst the food is fantastic as to be expected, they also offer an occasional seafood dim sum buffet that is well-known to be value for money.
The food is really the same as what they serve in their other tung lok restaurants, so the chefs do take care ensuring the ingredients are as fresh as possible. This location is quite old too.

Cedele Depot
My sis *sugar* is a big fan of Cedele's cakes. I think because it is crumbly as cake should be and not dry - just right. It's supposed to be healthier too with carrotseed oil and all that. All I know is, it's just good cake.

Barpazza Pizza
The pizzas here are freshly made with fresh ingredients and real bits of cheese, served on an Ikea wooden turntable so everyone can get at a slice.

Fusion Art Glass
You can buy it cheaper on the internet. Remember to factor in shipping as fragile items cost more plus insurance.
It's enamel inside the glass plates that create almost life-like fruits and lemon wedges. After it arrived, I noticed quite a few air bubbles inside and changed my mind. That's one reason not to buy things online when you can't inspect the quality. Such a pity, it looked really good in the close-up photos online too.
* updated 31 Mar 2013: received lots of compliments from everyone that has seen these plates and it is quite unique as I have yet to find an equivalent product ;)

Caesar Salad
My sis's favourite salad, so I thought I would give her recommendations a try. Canele and Projectshop Cafe serve theirs with a poached egg on top. When you break the egg, the yolk drips over the salad like dressing. It really is better.
I had a dessert coz I was still hungry.

Salmon Taco Salad
My mom's just put me on a diet. She can't control what I eat during the day, so at night it's crudites and sesame salads for dinner. I also started ordering more salads, like this salmon taco salad for lunch.

Wedgewood Waterford
My wedgwood plates. I purchased this 30 piece set during a W&W sale over 2 years ago. A little early in my gameplan but I couldn't resist the Marc Jacob designed 22k gold brushed design of perforated lines and dots that came with flatware - 30 pieces of solid sterling silver cutlery that just screams wedding. I hope to complete it with matching stemware (waterford the associated crystal brand makes them) one day.
I really appreciate the craftsmanship that goes into wedgwood dinnerware. The plates are light and thin, when I hold it up against the light it becomes lucid and I can see how even the porcelain is moulded. It is tough and resilient, weathering many accidents with clumsy me with neither a crack nor scratch to show for it. Sturdy, the beautiful patterns gleam with a high polished shine even after getting a good scrubbing with steel brushes. Meant to last it's owner for generations, now I know why people pay so much for these things and am so glad that I have mine.

Boiled Peanuts
Chinese restaurants usually put out a dish of peanuts or achar when everyone is first seated. My favourite is boiled peanuts, usually in soy sauce, occasionally with herbs. It's soft and mushy, almost like porridge. I also had cod fish, another cold water oily fish after salmon.

Steamboat
It's a tiny little pot of soup (individual serving) with many many small dishes like a Korean banquet. There's peanut sauce so you can make your own dandan noodles. I want to try those mala hotpots next. I heard your tongue goes numb afterwards.

Mirchi
Another team lunch, this time at Mirchi - an Indian restaurant owned by Harry's Bar. The food is authentic as my Indian colleagues have atested. We had a tandoori platter to start off and I really took a liking to charred Indian bbq. In particular, the mutton kebab that tastes like meaty otah and the chicken. Garlic naans always go down well especially with mutton curry, lentil curry and butter chicken, really hearty savoury fare. Washed down with a mango lassi.

Big N' Tasty
Lorna made me a similar sandwich this morning with ham. So I made the trip to McDonald's for lunch (bad back and all) for the new Big n' Tasty with cheese shaker fries. The fries were fantastic! Big n' Tasty is really a quarter pounder with sauce overload - good but messy to eat.
